UK electronic signatures

Electronic signatures, kept simple.

Send a PDF, have it signed on any phone or computer, and get back a signed copy with a clear record of how and when it was signed. The people signing don't need an account or an app.

Example: a funding agreement, signed electronically Signed 14 October 2026, 20:41 (UK time)
Recorded: name, time, IP address, browser, and a fingerprint of the document before and after signing.

How it works

From PDF to signed copy in three steps

1

Prepare the document

Upload a PDF and drag boxes onto it for signatures, dates, text and tick boxes. Save it once and reuse it as often as you like.

2

Send a private link

Enter the signer's name and email. They receive a private link that expires, and you can see at a glance who has signed.

3

Get the signed copy

The signer reads the document, types their name, chooses a signature style and agrees. The signed PDF is stored, and a copy is emailed to them.

Built for real paperwork

More than a signature box

✓Forms you can fill in as well as sign

Text boxes and tick boxes sit alongside signatures. Lock some answers in advance, pre-fill others, and leave the rest for the signer.

✓Works on any device

Signers open a link on a phone, tablet or computer. There is nothing to install and no password to remember.

✓A record behind every signature

Each signing keeps the signer's name, the time, their IP address and browser, and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the document before and after, so you can show later that it hasn't been altered.

✓Easy for the signer

Read the document, fill in any boxes, type your name, pick a handwriting style and agree. The signature and date are stamped straight onto the PDF.

Where it came from

Made to stop printing, signing and scanning

SignVault grew out of a signing tool built for a UK nursery, so parents could sign childcare funding forms from their phones instead of printing and returning paper. It now runs as a system of its own, used by that nursery and, in time, by other organisations connected with the people who run it.

SignVault provides simple electronic signatures, which are generally accepted for agreements and consent forms in the UK. A few documents, such as deeds and wills, have special rules. This is general information, not legal advice.
